Using a water-soluble detergent will not harm the metal and may make general deck cleaning easier. Parts should be inspected after each use. Cables should be checked for wire breaks, misaligned swage fittings, and corrosion. Also, swaged fittings should be checked for cracks. Any other stainless parts can be inspected at the same time. Stainless steel can stain and corrode. It is an alloy, but it does still contain carbon . So if you see extensive discoloration or pitting, the parts should be replaced. If a part requires scraping or grinding to remove corrosion, it should be removed from service and replaced with new parts.
